Homeless Court
About this Program
Spartanburg’s Homeless Court was created to break the cycle between homelessness and the justice system through the City of Spartanburg Municipal Court. This voluntary diversion program serves individuals experiencing homelessness who are charged with non-violent, low-level offenses. Rather than focusing on punishment, the court emphasizes dignity, trust, and stability by offering access to supportive services and personalized progress plans. Court sessions are held outside the traditional courtroom setting to create a welcoming, accessible environment that addresses the root causes of instability.
Key Partners: Homeless Court is a collaborative effort that combines legal relief with social support. Partners include Spartanburg Municipal Court, Public Defender’s Office, Solicitor’s Office & A Place to Call Home.
