About this Program
The Litter Heroes Program is a 90-day transitional employment initiative designed for individuals experiencing homelessness or housing instability. By combining paid work with wraparound support, the program empowers participants to build stability while making a visible difference in Spartanburg County’s community spaces.

Eligibility & Expectations
Participants must:
- Complete pre-employment screenings (drug test, background check, physical exam)
- Attend weekly case management and life skills sessions
- Maintain consistent attendance and positive conduct
- Participate fully for the 90-day program duration
Program Components
- Employment: Paid litter cleanup with uniforms and transportation provided. Participants earn $14/hour for 27 hours per week, focusing on litter cleanup across Spartanburg County.
- Case Management: Weekly sessions focused on housing, healthcare, benefits, and goal setting.
- Life Skills Training: Weekly classes on financial literacy, job readiness, health, and digital skills.
- Savings Opportunities: Referrals to Individual Development Accounts (IDAs) for housing, education, or vehicle purchases.
- Healthcare Access: Support with insurance enrollment and mental health/addiction services.
- Transportation: Daily pickup/drop-off service and 30-day city bus passes.
- Graduation & Beyond: Formal recognition, continued case management, and referrals to housing or employment pipelines.
